- Approved: New Antimicrobial Stewardship Standard[®] Perspectives, July 2016, Vol 36, #7, Pg 1 – Do you know what an Antimicrobial Stewardship Multidisciplinary Team is? Does your hospital have one? Well, by January 1 of 2017 TJC’s new standard referenced above will require it along with several other interesting provisions. For example, leadership will need to demonstrate its commitment to antimicrobial stewardship. Although written primarily for med-surg hospitals, the provisions of standard MM.09.01.01 will also apply to psychiatric hospitals. We will be looking for ideas and examples of compliance that best fit our hospitals. Please share your thoughts and experiences as you prepare for the new requirements.
