The Transplant Safety Chapter seems minimally relevant to psychiatric hospitals because of our low (most often zero)  organ donation and procurement conversion rates (#22*).  Still, the standards are applicable, and our facilities have been cited for non-compliance, especially for not having the required policies and agreements in place (#15-17*).  1 of the 3 practice questions is particularly relevant for our hospitals:

• TS.01.01.01: When is an agreement with a tissue or eye bank unnecessary?

Tip: Yes, it is a trick question, but the answer is not ‘never’. Go to page 12.
