The good news is that TJC allows hospitals with dental clinics to choose for themselves the “compliance solutions that are most appropriate for their practice environment“. However, if the organization does not specify the basis for its approach to infection control and EOC issues in the dental area, surveyors will presume and apply those standards applicable to the organization as a whole.  Although TJC is careful not to prescribe any particular approach, this article does list the following nationally recognized, evidence-based reference standards for high-level disinfection, sterilization, and environment of care issues for dental areas”
