To maintain alignment with Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) regulations and retain its status as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)–approved accrediting body, TJC implemented 5 new Eps and 2 new notes effective March 23, 2014.  The change specifies refined requirements for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP) that include:

• Completion of referrals and follow-up (for other health care needs) within 3 months;
• Having procedures for working with traveling patients and
• Providing information about community providers as needed.

Tip: If your organization is an OTP, update your FSA with regard to all 5 of the new EPs referenced above.
