*PR: High-level Disinfection and Sterilization: Know Your Process[®] [REF: IC] Perspectives, February 2014, Vol 34, #2, Pg 9 JCp1402_B1 47% of hospitals are found non-compliant with IC.02.02.01. As reported in this article, frequent causes for this are a failure to have, have access to and/or utilize current evidence-based guidelines as required by IC.01.05.01 EP1. Another reason relates to a failure to provide adequate orientation and training regarding cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. The latter two issues are less common for our hospitals, except those with Dental Suites and Medical Infirmaries. Tip: Ask your IC Nurse/Professional to determine if your facility has/utilizes any critical or semi-critical equipment that might require high-level disinfection or sterilization.
