• PR: Accepted: New and Revised Requirements to Align with CMS CoPs – [Ftxt] [REF: MDx, RNx, P&T, Phrm] Perspectives September 2012, Pg 4, Vol 32, # 10 [®]
TJC has again revised its standards to more closely align with CMS changes in 77 FR 29034 or CMS-3244-F that became effective this past 7/16/12. These revisions addressed the following issues:
• Re: Medication Management
— Pre-printed and electronic standing orders, order sets, and protocols for medication orders (MM.04.01.01)
— Verbal or written medication orders of a practitioner other than a licensed independent practitioner (MM.05.01.07; PC.02.01.03)
— MM.06.03.01: self-administration of medication
• Re: Leadership
— LD.01.02.01; MM.07.01.03: Hospital-wide quality assessment
— LD.01.05.01: Expanded Med staff roles for doctor of Podiatric medicine
— LD.04.01.05: Outpatient services responsibility
• Re: Patient Care
— PC.03.05.19: Reporting death of a patient in restraints
• Re: Medical Records
— RC.01.02.01: Authentication of a verbal or written order by the ordering
practitioner or another practitioner who is responsible for the care of the patient
— RC.02.03.07: Elimination of requirement for authentication of a verbal
order within 48 hours
