• TS: – Preparing for Change: What You Need to Know About Intracycle Monitoring [REF: JCCAP, JCSC, PI] The Source, November 2012, Vol 10, # 10, Pg 10 [®]
Implementation of the Intracycle Monitoring (ICM) process begins in part with activation of the Intracycle Monitoring Profile as reported in last month’s Perspectives (see RTNrw: Joint Commission to Launch New Intracycle Monitoring Process). This article provides more detail about the IMP and its layout. It also describes a dashboard and an ICM workspace containing nine tabs. Five of these tabs are briefly discussed.
- Re: The “Accreditation Status” Tab – To track survey results and the status of processes such as ESC, MOS and the FSA.
- Re: The “Accreditation Program Risks” Tab – This is where an organization’s PFAs, RFI standards and program-specific risk areas {supposed to be ID’d in the e-version} are located.
- Re: The “Focused Standards Assessment (FSA)” Tab – The FSA as required by APR.03.01.01 will physically replace the PPR on the 12th of November and functionally replace it on January 1, 2013. The FSA is very similar to the PPR but differs primarily around its goal of focusing an organization on standards related to its risk areas. To that end, while the FSA tool can reveal all applicable standards it can also filter for just the “R” icon or ‘Risk Standards’. While organizations are encouraged to assess compliance with all relevant standards, there is an option for submitting just the “R” icon standards (usually 45-65% of the standards applicable to your organization) that satisfy APR.03.01.01. A side bar on page 18 further explains the 3 PPR-like options for FSA submission.
- Re: The “Topics for Discussion” Tab – This tab is for the identification and collection of issues an organization wishes to discuss/clarify with TJC’s Standards Interpretation Group (SIG). It is available even to those choosing FSA submission Option 1. It allows SIG staff to be better prepared for your annual ICM TouchPoint telephone call.
- Re: The “Reports” and “Resources and Measures” Tab – As the title suggests, this tab serves as a repository and easy access point for organization-created reports along with tools, newsletters, publications, etc. for supporting your compliance efforts.
TIP 1: Begin to explore the ICM workspace on TJC Connect extranet. Be sure to view the ICM Overview Narrated Slide Set (a 29-slide narrated overview of the ICM and the new workspace that takes 24.5 minutes. Tip 2: If your PPR is due anytime within the next 3 months, determine whether or not you qualify for a PPR or FSA submission extension.
